Excellent short break.

Pros: A thoroughly enjoyable stay where all the Staff made you feel welcome. Place is like out of the Shirley Valentine film, Greece at its best.

Cons: All good, nothing not too like, be aware though this is not an all singing all dancing modern facility but it's real Greece.

I wanted a quiet and private time, so I really enjoyed it. Breakfast was most enjoyable

Pros: Location, view, nice room. My room had a private terrace- but not all do- some balconies are very close to each other with not much privacy

Cons: Water should be offered on arrival and a complimentary bottle placed in fridge. Facility to refill water bottles would also be good. Staff are pleasant in an off- hand way and quite passive- no explanation of facilities, options in Loutro, etc

Shangri-la

Pros: The hospitality , superb hostess........and the bedroom was the best appointed in 37 years of travel to Sfakia.

Cons: The usual concerns in a roadless village in the very early season, when few businesses are open and the water transport is not guaranteed (weather, breakdowns). You either walk to the village or go by boat; so the lack of connecting buses as Easter was early in 2023, mean Loutro guests often shorten their stay so they can teach airports on time. The smallness of the village and it's isolation makes it magic and addictive!! It is a great base for walkers, swimmers, cafe loungers watching the sea, watching the marine movements, the comings and goings of holiday makers, locals and beloved of the 1960's hippy surviving, arthritic visitors, water taxis!!
