Pension Lena

Lena was an excellent host and couldn't have been more helpful.

Pros: The location was perfect and ideal for the old town. Lena organised a taxi for us to the airport and helpfully arranged another night and quiet accommodation for us. She couldn't have been more accommodating.

Cons: The bed was okay.

Pros: In the city centre, not far from parking. Clean and tidy. Perfect for a shot stay.

Charming Place

Pros: The location is superb, in the old town of Chania, close to many cafes and shops and just a short walking distance to the Old Venetian Port. The place is central yet quiet. The room is beautifully decorated, and it has some nice amenities, like a mini fridge. Also, the bathroom looked recently renewed and was very clean.

Cons: Indeed the shower is quite small, so the bathroom gets all wet after using it, but it shouldn't be a problem for a couple of days. There were some things on the top of the min fridge that looked a bit dusty, but overall clean room.

Pros: Very good location. Lena was very helpful letting us leave bags and arranging taxi for us.

Pros: The room was clean and comfortable. Power outlets were available on each side of the bed. There is a small fridge and facilities for making hot drinks. Fresh towels were provided. There is a small functional bathroom cubicle in the corner of the room. The hosts were quick to respond to contact via Booking. A great location for access to the old town or Nea Chora.

Cons: It is an older building with narrow doorways and a fairly steep stairway. It does make it a bit restrictive with larger bags. The room itself was also a bit too small for us. The rooms themselves don't have anywhere to sit outside. There is a small communal terrace on the roof, but the outside light is not working. I did report this, but it could not be fixed straight away. Our hosts were quick to tell us where to locate a small battery-powered lamp in reception. However, it didn't emit a lot of light and wasn't sufficient to read with after dark. So a final evening sat outside was spoilt for us. This is a decent place in a good location. But I'm sorry but we would hesitate to stay again. This was for a one day layover for our last night in Crete, but it put a bit of a dampner on it for us.

Charming stay in the heart of the old town

Pros: Pension Lena is perfectly located in the old town, just a short walk (3 minutes) from the nearest parking outside the walls. Lena is a wonderful host with great taste, preserving the authentic character of the beautifully maintained historic building while adding all the touches needed to make guests feel comfortable and at home. We truly enjoyed our stay

I’d definitely come back

Pros: The size meaning it was very quiet, the style and attention to detail, the location - perfectly suited for finding breakfast and being in the centre of the old town.

A cosy, welcoming, tasteful and well- equipped place to stay.

Pros: Breakfast not applicable. I would emphasise that the lack of quietness in the evenings was in no way Lena’s responsibility: as music emanated from two consecutive evenings of nearby outdoor concerts. Fortunately the first ended at 10.30, the second around 11.00pm.

Cons: We don’t have any criticism of Lena’s Pension. It’s very charming, the beds are comfortable and it had all the facilities we needed- with a roof terrace which, with us being in Room One, was directly opposite. Lena is a highly capable and experienced host.
