Civitel Akali Hotel

Pros: The personnel of that hotel was very helpful. Localisation good and bass. The shopping center and harbor within walking distance. On the other hand main street behind balcony with noisy traffic. Good Localisation, helpfull personnel, teasty breakfast.

Pros: Great hotel, close to the beach, restaurants and the old town. Staff were super helpful and lovely.

Cons: The cleaning staff entered my room a couple of times while I was in the shower. I also had a couple of guests enter my room on the day of check out before it was time. They had the same key as me.

Amazing place w/amazing people

Pros: The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are perfect and aesthetically fantastic. Breakfast was good. Big highlight is Alexandros, if you need guidance for exploring Crete gastronomy and beaches he's your guy.

Amazing place to stay in Chania

Pros: Everything. I received a free room upgrade on arrival, it was clean, great breakfast choice. A lot of the other reviews mention the location being in a bad area - I did not think so. There are coffee shops, supermarkets all around and it is a 10 minute walk to the old town or the beach, I thought the location was great.

Pros: We had a fantastic stay at Akali Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The hotel is beautifully maintained, with clean, modern rooms and a peaceful atmosphere that made it easy to relax. The staff were absolutely amazing — incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful with any questions or requests. Their warm hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable and really set the hotel apart. One of the absolute highlights was the breakfast — truly outstanding. The spread was generous and varied, with something to suit every taste. Freshly baked pastries, local cheeses, olives, seasonal fruits, eggs made to order, and rich, aromatic coffee — every item was high quality and delicious. It was the perfect way to start each day and a real standout of the stay. Overall, Akali Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice but ended bitter due to one unpleasant person at front desk.

Cons: Whilst most of the staff was welcoming and smiling, the lady who managed our check-in and check-out was absolutely not up to standard for such a place. Cold and unpleasant. We used one bottle of water from the minibar (note that it was reasonably surprising to not have any free-of-charge water in a 4 stars hotel) which we actually replaced, as we used the minibar fridge to cool bottles we bought during our 4 days stay. The front desk person called her room staff during the checkout to check our minibar consumption; she got confirmation that bottle was replaced. She claimed this was not possible to do so. Fundamentally, I would have accepted without any personal concern if all this situation would have been managed within a friendly exchange. However, the behaviour of the lady was such unpleasant (and unprofessional for this kind of role) that the it gave an unnecessary bitter aftertaste. We settled the 4€ without arguing eventually. Just got annoyed of the attitude.
